Last night I dreamt
that we were there
the wind was cool and bit the railing
and waves lapped against the bow

Our hands like gloves for bears
warm in the frost and spray
our mouths moved silently
asking questions to which we knew no answer

and then you said them

you said the words

the words with words preceeding and words following, descending down flights of stairs and wind shafts and dark hallways

The wind was cool and bit the railing
I breathed in skin and whale song
and tumultuous love and fear
and bent to the breeze
